a.k.a. the bag issue.
This summer I’m lucky enough to be going to Barcelona, Athens, possibly somewhere else in Greece as well, and London. Now I ain’t complaining at all; in fact I can’t wait… but the luggage limitations and the different types of activities I’ll be doing* mean that I have to think about what I’m taking with me very carefully.
And a very important thing is my handbag! I need something that I can carry every day, because I can’t afford to bring endless handbags to choose from. It needs to go with everything, be big enough to take to the office, or maybe even the beach… Everything a single bag cannot be. Let’s go over my options anyway.
My everyday bag, needs no introduction. I love it, but it’s too heavy and cumbersome for holidaying -I took it to Berlin and man did my shoulder suffer! Plus, I feel like it deserves a rest after carrying my books all this year… I’m definitely leaving it behind.
My mom’s old Gucci. It’s got buttery soft leather and it’s a bright camel colour (I guess). It’s smaller and lighter, but I’m afraid I’d be too scared of ruining it if I were to take it, plus the colour is not that understated, although it does go with almost everything.
My beach bag. It’s great, but I don’t know if I can afford the space for a separate beach bag. I’m leaning more towards this…
…which is a simple canvas bag, so it takes up less space in my suitcase, and I can always pop it in my handbag when I’m going to the office, and then put my handbag inside it to protect it if I decide to go to the beach after work (the perks of Barcelona, peeps!)
And then I think I will also take this one:
…just so I have a hands-free option. I’m thinking especially for the plane, where I’m taking a small carry-on, so I’m not (technically) allowed to have another bag. But I figure, this only counts as an accessory, really (hihi), and I can just about fit my phone, passport and boarding pass in there. The rest (book, laptop etc) I can get from my carry-on once I’m on the plane. It’ll also be useful for going out, or just whenever I don’t feel like carrying a lot, but I’m concerned it won’t go with everything… My other option is a suede-y black crossbody, but I find it too wintery.
Aand then I also want to take along one of my DIY clutches. I narrowed it down to these three:
I think I can justify taking one of these, because I also use them as organizers when I’m carrying a bigger handbag (to keep small/important stuff together), or even in my suitcase, and they take up zero space anyways.
*I’ll be working in an office in Barcelona, but then I’ll also be holidaying, as well as going out/walking around the city, so I need appropriate clothes for all of the above
